Weather finally permitted on Saturday and the OC 10th-Ranked Sailors (OC Register pre-season rankings) hosted Sunny Hills for a non-conference game. Binford, KyleKyle Binford was dialed in at the plate on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading the TARS to a 15-1 win over Sunny Hills. Binford doubled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and doubled in the sixth.
The TARS got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run.
Then the onslaught… the TARS notched six runs in the fourth inning, led by Duncan, BrahamBraham Duncan, Lemmon, RichRichard Lemmon, Greer, ChaseChase Greer, and Bibb, JackJack Bibb, all knocking in runs.
Mahaffy, CameronCameron Mahaffy led the TARS to victory on the mound. He went three innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven. Axe, SpencerSpencer Axe, Ferrell, JamesJames Ferrell, and Austin, KellyKelly Austin, all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Enoch Kim toed the rubber for Sunny Hills. He went three innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out four. Justin Shepherd, Toby Hager, and Steven Lopez each contributed in relief for Sunny Hills.
Binford, Duncan, and Mahaffy each collected multiple hits for the TARS who tallied 13 total hits on the day. Binford had his career best day at the plate going 4-for-5.
The TARS were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Liolios, ClayClay Liolios made the most plays with 11.
